It will be so different next year. You won't be there to tell me to calm down and stop worrying. I might just have a nervous break/ stress overload! (No just kidding.) I will definitely come and visit you ALL the time! You are a great teacher and I hope that you have a happy relaxing birthday. You deserve it. I mean, you have to teach and deal with psycho junior high kids all day. I think that that warrants a day just for you. We should dub it "Jennifer is the Best" day. It should be illegal to stress you out on the day which I have just dedicated to you: the second day in the month of April.

When two days had passed and no one had posted on this blog, my mom suggested that people didn't want to be the first one. "You should post something now," she suggested. "Other people will follow." I said I was too busy, but, honestly, I just had no idea what I wanted to say. you've done so many wonderful things for me that I almost can't sum them up in a decent amount of words.

I used to think teachers were people who taught you how to read and write and do math, but you've been so much more than that for me. Our class has struggled through hard things, but you've made us into- and yes, and know this is cliche :)- a family. When I come to school each day, I know I'm going to laugh, and I know that if I cry, I'll have people who care about me there.
One time someone told me that each time a person laughs, he adds 25 seconds to his life. if that's true, the people who've been in your class will live longer than anyone else!!

Okay this is from Chris and MaLea because the invite to our email weren't working and it's just a long story so we had to write this on her account. But anyways, you were actually the best teacher that we've had at Paideia. But, really. You were hilarious and you helped me learn so much. You were the one teacher that I felt prepared me the most for high school, and it was amazing to be in your class. You're even my (Chris's) mom's favorite teacher and she constantly ask about you and is talking about how great of a teacher you are. I have so many good memories from this class and I can't name every single last one of them because I have to get back to class, but MaLea says that her mom always tells her that her mom says that you're her favorite teacher too. But anyways, you're amazing and I will always remember you even if I eventually have one million teachers. You'll still be my favorite. Love, Chris and MaLea.

Why I love Jennifer

The class goes on all day long with many words spoken

they are all heard, accepted

but some aren't just recognized, they are saved in our memory

because we know they have meaning, they are worth remembering

Her insults, her humor, and this talent

A talent to teach 

To teach in a way that makes the birds stop in mid song and listen

Maybe a heavenly spirit came down one day and handed her this gift

It seems that way

All the birds have stopped singing, they flock her classroom,

Their non existent ears now listening, for something they truly want to hear

Her mouth opens and her words flow,

with these words she does something every teacher would love to do

Happy Birthday Jennifer! You are one of my favorite teachers at Paideia. I really appreciate how you would always try to make class challenging but fun at the same time. You are also a very supportive and carring person (even during those sarcastic moments!). One of the best moments I can remember from Junior High was when we were playing around the world, probably in pre-law, and somehow Jay and I were competing and whenever one of us tried to call out an answer (by saying our name) it always sounded the same! Happy birthday Jennifer! I always think of you when I hear some one say good instead of well and it brings me great joy and frustration... Anyway I really enjoyed having you as a teacher I learned a lot from you and I have to say thank you so much for teaching me how to write a five paragraph essay it's been so useful this year. I have decided to give you two things this year one is my best effort at grammar in this note (notice all I's are capitalized I remember you being annoyed about how we didn't capitalized our notes when we were posting on those websites last year) and two I'd be astonished if you haven't heard the song friday but since you teach in the junior high I assume you have.... So I found this and it brings me lots of joy and gets that song out of my head.

Dear Jennifer,

I was thrilled to have you as my teacher this year.  Nothing is better than having a teacher who makes jokes better than some of her own students.  Being in your class has been a great experiance for me and you have definitely prepared me for high school, at least I hope so.  Anyway, I hope that Meemaw has an excellent birthday because she desreves it.  Our class has had some hard times, but you have been able to pull us through and show us the bright side.
